Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief time in the city was not. Brugel grew up in Courtice outside Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but an increase in her height led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as six feet and one inches tall. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in the instance of Brugel, it was the result of a recommendation by her drama teacher. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. It was her choice to take on the main character in Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. For the past twenty years, Brugel's roles in the world of television and on the screen have varied. The role of Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in Season 1 and only appeared occasionally.
